This growing fellowship was known as “Believers Bible Church” for about the first decade of its history—but that didn’t last. Earl Swain’s account explains when and why the name was changed: “The church name was changed September 25, 1983, from Believers Bible Church to Grand Prairie Bible Church, to eliminate confusion with a Bible Believers Church and with a Believers Bible Church in Dallas. There was also a concern that a new church might take the name of Grand Prairie Bible Church.”

The church would continue to be known as Grand Prairie Bible Church for as long as they remained in Grand Prairie—over three more decades.
