Chapter Two: The First Decade

By 1975, a new fellowship–Believers Bible Church–had begun, with a strong biblical foundation and an active and committed church body. But with Craig and Barbara Prather’s departure to the mission field, the church now lacked one major thing: a pastor. As it turned out, God would answer the church’s need in a way that might have been unexpected to some–with not just one pastor, but two.

John Wecks and Garry Hogan soon became co-pastors of the newly established church. John describes the series of events that led them to this situation: “Garry Hogan and I were still students at Dallas Seminary when we started to meet, and we were burdened to start a co-pastorate. And we got Howard Hendricks to counsel us and guide us and promote us as well.”
